Art lovers head to Chicago
27 March 2006

One of the most important art fairs in the US is now only a month away.

Butler Field in Millennium Park will be hosting the Art Chicago fair between 28th April and 1st May, selling a variety of work passing through a spectrum of different styles and prices.

A massive tent houses the work of around 3,000 artists from 200 galleries each year, finding room for dining areas, lectures, events and special exhibitions too.

'Last year's pavilion-in-the-park made a captivating impact on the ever-changing urban landscape of downtown Chicago and was met with unanimous approval and accolades,' the Fair's publicity says.

'Plans for this year's exposition will offer visitors and the participating dealers an even greater setting than last year.'

Thomas Blackman Associates has run the Art Chicago fair ever since the inaugural show in 1993.

During the past 13 fairs some expensive purchases have been made, the highest being $60 million, but with a variety of prints and smaller paintings on offer the price range can fall down to as low as a very affordable $100.
