Rooney goes from Man United to United Arab Emirates
30 March 2006
Footballer Wayne Rooney and his fiancée Coleen McLoughlin are to buy a holiday home in Abu Dhabi.
The Sun reports that the couple have told property developers they want a place in the sun away from Dubai and towards the United Arab Emirates capital Abu Dhabi.
Coleen has recently returned from a holiday in Dubai and the couple will not be short of any footballing friends if they return, as England team mates Ashley Cole and Michael Owen are both fans of the country, along with Charlotte Church and Victoria Beckham.
The UAE is quickly realising its potential as a major travel spot and in Dubai work on the world's tallest hotel will start this year.
Expected to be completed in three years, the five star Burj Al Alam, or the World Tower, in Dubai will be 108 storeys high, of which only the top 34 floors will be used as a hotel.
