MP3 capital guide
30 March 2006
Travellers exploring London can now download audio guides.
The firm Tourist Tracks, which already offers mp3 guides to Cambridge, has extended their service to include guides of the City of London and Westminster in partnership with the official tourist organisation Visit London.
The guides can be downloaded onto mp3 players allowing visitors to take a tour at their own pace, replaying any missed information.
Tours include the major sights of London, although the sounds may be blocked out by headphones, including the Houses of Parliament, Downing Street, St Paul's Cathedral and the Millennium Bridge.
Visit London, meanwhile, is trying to promote London to visitors from around the country as a destination for a weekend trip.
A series of themed weekend plans have been launched to cater to variety of tastes, from lads' weekends to romantic second honeymoons.
The capital's culture, gay nightlife and ghostly attractions have also been highlighted.
Visit London chief executive James Bidwell said: 'People who live in this country make up nearly half of all visitors to the capital.
'This campaign will keep London top of mind with UK visitors as well as reflecting the breadth and diversity of London's tourism offering, in an engaging and humorous way.'
