Virgin boosts routes to China
03 April 2006

Virgin Atlantic has announced a new deal with Air China that will see the UK operator offering a greater number of flights to China.

As from July this year, UK passengers will be able to book flights on Virgin Atlantic for travel from London to Beijing, in addition to Virgin's current London to Shanghai service.

A codeshare arrangement has been agreed between the two carriers that will enable Virgin's Flying Club members to earn air miles when travelling with Air China, while the Chinese operator's Companion frequent flyers will also be able to earn points when travelling on Virgin flights.

Virgin Atlantic's commercial director Willy Boulter commented: "We are delighted to announce this new codeshare agreement with Air China. It will offer passengers greater flexibility for their travel to and from China, together with fantastic value and excellent standards of service throughout their journey."

Chris Humphrey, country manager of China at Virgin Atlantic, added that the deal represents "the ideal compliment to our daily services between Shanghai and London".
