Europe's best beards line up in competition in Italy to gain the title as Europe's top facial hair.
Contenders head to the town of Grottaglie each August for the Beard and Moutache European Championship.
The festival is accompanied by music and food providing entertainment for all, bearded or not, before the champion is announced, after elements such as style, size and length are carefully considered.
Grottaglie, located in the region of Puglia in the heel of Italy, is also famed for its pottery.
The district around the town's 14th century castle, Castello Episcopio, has many workshops, where craftsmen have worked for hundreds of years producing their wares.
Winners of the European Beard title, and lovers of beards, should head to the biennial World Beard and Moustache Championships that take place next year in Brighton, before heading to Alaska in 2009.
