Air New Zealand adds more flights
05 April 2006

Air New Zealand is adding a second daily service between Auckland and London, via Hong Kong.

The extra flights to London Heathrow will commence on 28 October, doubling the airline's current capacity.

Ed Sims, the international airlines general manager, explained how since the first daily service was launched in 1998 arrivals to New Zealand have increased annually on average by ten per cent.

He said: 'The additional capacity will leave us better placed to take advantage of the demand we have created, especially during peak seasons when our flights are 90 to 100 per cent full.

'More excitingly, we can stimulate new demand with higher frequency and new routing options, including the world's only current round-the-world service on one airline.'

The popularity of New Zealand as a destination has grown in recent years after its diverse landscapes featured in the Lord of the Rings trilogy and The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe.
