Angelina and Brad head to Namibia
10 April 2006

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have jetted from their Paris base to holiday in Namibia.

Jolie fell in love with the country while making the film Beyond Borders and now the couple have returned for an extended stay.

To ensure privacy the stars, accompanied by Jolie's two adopted children, booked out an entire luxury beach lodge near the town of Swakopmund for 12 weeks, leading to rumours that Jolie may choose to give birth in Africa.

Previously it was believed she would give birth in France, but local reports say that a medical team joined the couple.

Namibia's greatest asset is its diverse landscape.

Agate Beach is famed for its black sand, while the largely untouched Skeleton Coast is home to numerous shipwrecks.

Within the country tourists can find canyons, deserts, head on safari and in the bush come across a European castle.

Namibia's towns show off its past with both their names, such as Luderitz and Helmeringhausen, and the colourful architecture that often has strong German influences.
