Wizz Air rushes into Romania
27 April 2006

Wizz Air is to start flying to Romania.

Central and Eastern Europe's largest low cost airline will start flying between Budapest and the historic Romanian town of Targu Mures.

Jozsef Varadi, Wizz Air chief executive, said: 'Our entry into Romania is a highly important step forward to reinforce our market leadership in Central and Eastern Europe.

'Targu Mures Airport is the perfect location for Wizz to serve the millions of inhabitants of Transylvania and those who wish to experience the unique nature and cultural life of the region. This is the first step and many more are to come.'

The airline has also recently announced a new route between Poland and Ireland.

Flights between the southern Polish city of Katowice and Cork will start later this year.

Mr Varadi said: 'This is the first step for Wizz Air in the Irish market. We are very proud to be the first to link Katowice and the city of Cork

'We are looking forward to further extending our cooperation with Cork Airport by adding more frequencies and more routes in the near future.'
