New transatlantic flights from Delta
16 May 2006

Delta has announced the addition of two new transatlantic routes from New York's John F Kennedy International Airport.

The two new routes to Manchester and Dublin/Shannon, which began their service yesterday, bring the carrier's transatlantic destinations from New York to 17.

Glen Hauenstein, Delta's executive vice president of network and revenue management, believes that the carrier is fast becoming "New York's airline".

"When combined with our plans to double the number of domestic flights offered each day from JFK by October, customers will find it easier than ever to choose to fly Delta to, from or through New York," he said.

By October, Delta expects to operate 164 peak day flights from JFK to some 69 destinations including nine additional non-stop services to international airports.

Recently Delta became the only US-based airline to operate a non-stop service between JFK and Budapest and is set to make another groundbreaking move in June, when it introduces non-stop flights between New York and Kiev.
