Top scuba diving locations named
19 May 2006

The best scuba diving locations around the world have been named.

Underwater attractions that vary from sunken military vessels to schools of migrating fish have been named in a list of the top ten destinations.

For fans of sunken ships, the Thistlegorm, a military vessel that has been submerged in the Red Sea since 1956, has been named in the list alongside the Bianca C, a 200-metre cruiseliner that sank in 1961 off the coast of Grenada.

For divers who prefer more natural scenery, a dive from the small Caribbean island of Bonair - where the surrounding reef is the home to some 300 species of fish - was highlighted.

In June, off the eastern coast of South Africa species of dolphin, seal and shark are joined by the annual migration of millions of sardines in what is known as the Sardine Run.

The list, compiled by Regaldive, also included destinations in the Galapagos Islands, the Maldives and Indonesia.
