Cage bags Caribbean island
22 May 2006

Actor Nicolas Cage is to buy his own island in the Caribbean.

The Face/Off star paid £1.6 million for the 40-acre undeveloped island that lies 85 miles south of Nassau.

Although the island will give Cage and his family a great deal of privacy, neighbours such as Johnny Depp, Richard Branson and Faith Hill, who all have their own islands nearby, mean he won't be isolated.

Apart from the good weather, the Bahamas have become popular with the rich and famous around the world as they stand just 760 miles south of Florida, so heading back to the US remains easy at even the last moment.

Cage already owns a property in the Bahamas on Paradise Island, and it has recently been reported that he has been looking for a private getaway for his new family in locations as diverse as German forests and the West Country in England.
