Flights welcome iPods
11 December 2006

Apple has announced that it will be teaming up with Air France and KLM to bring iPod technology to passengers.

The firm's hugely popular portable music player will soon be compatible with technology onboard, allowing customers to use their iPod while airborne.

Passengers will be able to charge their music player via a connection in their seat and will also be able to watch the video content which is stored on the device on the back-of-seat screens.

'There is no better travelling companion than an iPod, and now travellers can power their iPods during flight and even watch their iPod movies and TV shows on their seat back displays,' said Greg Joswiak, Apple's vice president of Worldwide iPod Product Marketing.

It is expected that passengers will benefit from the new technology from mid-2007.

Apple is currently leading the way in the digital music and portable video player market, having sold 70m iPods worldwide.
