Grand Slam golf in Bermuda
13 December 2006

Some of the biggest names in the world of golf are going to be in Bermuda in October 2007.

The PGA Grand Slam of Golf is taking place, an event which signals the end of the golf season and always attracts big name players.

This year's event came to an end in November, with Tiger Woods wining for a seventh time.

Tourism officials in Bermuda are excited by the prospect of hosting the Grand Slam and they are expecting a massive influx of visitors before, during and after the event.

'Bermuda has long been known as a golfer's paradise, worthy of the best players in the world,' said Bermuda's minister of tourism and transport Dr Ewart Brown.

Dr Brown went on to point out that Bermuda has more golf courses per square mile than anywhere else in the world.

'The PGA Grand Slam of Golf marks a new chapter in its history by visiting the beautiful island of Bermuda, which is no stranger to hosting the finest players in the game,' added PGA of America President Brian Whitcomb.

'What remains constant is that this event features the game's stiffest entry requirement and is a treat for fans and players. We look forward with great excitement to presenting the PGA Grand Slam of Golf in Bermuda.'
