Hong Kong Chinese New Year Parade
29 January 2007

Hong Kong's Chinese New Year Night Parade is getting closer and the route has finally been unveiled.

The Hong Kong Tourism Board has revealed that the 12th parade will take place on 18 February and will start at the Cultural Centre in Tsim Sha Tsui.

Once the parade has begun, it will make its way to Salisbury Road, stopping along the way at designated performance zones.

Around 40 groups are expected to take part in this year's event, with a total of 13 floats on display.

Among them will be international and local people, with 15 foreign troupes and 12 local ones also taking part.

In addition to the main performers, around 100 people will be on hand to stimulate the crowds and help to generate a festive atmosphere.

Spectators will be provided with inflatable trinkets and huge television screens will be erected so that the performances can be enjoyed by everyone.
