BA strike cancelled

British Airways (BA) has announced that a planned strike by cabin staff has been called off.
The airline will be running a full programme of international and domestic flights, bringing an end to possible chaos for thousands of travellers around the world.
Cabin crews had voted to hold a strike on 30 January and 31 January in a dispute over pay and sick leave.
However, after fierce negotiations between the firm and the Transport and General Workers' Union, a deal was struck and the planned industrial action has been called off.
'British Airways today welcomed the decision by the cabin crew branch of the Transport and General Workers' Union to call off the strikes scheduled for tomorrow and Wednesday and for two 72-hour periods next month,' said a statement from the airline.
In preparation for the strike, BA had cancelled 1,300 flights and, despite the situation being resolved, the firm said it may have come too late to prevent travel chaos for some passengers.
