Tourists enjoying China's traditional markets

People taking a holiday in China are increasingly spending their money on silk, pearl and cloissone.
That is according to the Beijing Tourism Administration, which says previously popular arts and crafts stores are attracting less interest from tourists.
Beijing Evening News reports that tour guides are getting more requests to take visitors to the Silk Market in Beijing's central business district or Hongqiao Market, which is close to the Temple of Heaven.
Tour guides say that both markets are gaining a good reputation globally, for quality of goods and reasonable prices.
Recent years have seen holidaymakers taking more of an interest in traditional shopping places as they seek to get a taste of real life in Beijing.
The Beijing Tourism Administration also says that clothing markets, previously only popular among locals, such as the Yaxiu Market and Jiayi Market, are also generating interest among travellers.
Beijing's markets are famous the world over, with specialist sites dealing in birds and insects, food and tea.
