Nicole Smith's grave attracts visitors
06 March 2007

Anna Nicole Smith, the former Playboy model who died of a suspected drugs overdose last month, is still attracting attention after her death.

The star was finally laid to rest in the Bahamas following a lengthy dispute between family members and her burial site is proving to be a popular tourist spot.

Official statistics from the idyllic island of Nassau show that the graveyard has overtaken an aquarium-themed resort as the number one tourist destination.

To put that into context; the resort had held the title unchallenged for nine consecutive years.

'Oh man, everybody wants to see this,' taxi driver Dan Adderley told the New York Daily News.

'People are getting off the cruise ships, and this is where they want to come. There'll be hundreds here today.

'The tourism board must be sitting back and chilling - they can't buy the kind of exposure they had here the last few weeks,' he added.

Tourist officials on the island are well aware that Nicole Smith's death has boosted visitor numbers, with one local operator saying: 'That's what brought people here.'
