Can I, can I, can I, can I take my chameleon?
09 March 2007
A woman tried to get onto a flight with two chameleons in her pockets.
Staff at Stansted airport were shocked when the passenger approached them and pulled the animals from her coat.
She reportedly asked security officials if it would be OK to take the chameleons onto the flight.
Workers at the airport flatly refused, telling the woman that pets are not permitted onboard and the animals were swiftly confiscated.
'It's very unusual for us to be presented with two live chameleons at security but in the past we've had passengers trying to take cats and dogs through and on one occasion even a tarantula,' said Nick Cole, spokesman for the airport.
'We advise all passengers to only carry items in their hand luggage that are essential for their flight.'
The chameleons have now been handed over to the RSPCA and are being cared for, while the woman was allowed to continue with her journey.
