Middle-East anticipates aviation acceleration
03 April 2007

Aviation in the Middle East will grow by just under 7% each year for the remainder of the decade, a study from the Centre for Asia Pacific Aviation has predicted.

Within a decade, airline and airport growth will have doubled, the report predicts.

Passengers, airlines and individual destinations in the Middle East carry more clout than ever before, the centre's executive chairman Peter Harbison commented.

Middle Eastern aviation is 'a market the rest of the world can no longer ignore', he said.

While airport construction attracts massive investment, Middle Eastern airports are also enjoying a surge in tourist interest in the region, focusing on hotspots such as Dubai, which offers a luxury lifestyle and shopping opportunities.

Meanwhile, a study from International Air Transport Association this week revealed that passenger traffic between destinations in the Middle East aviation is growing faster than in any other region, with passenger demand climbing 18% between February 2006 and February 2007.
