oneworld takes tally to ten
03 April 2007
The oneworld group, which allows customers of a range of global airlines to share frequent flyer benefits and other perks, has brought three new members into its stable in quick succession.
Japan Airlines, Malev and Royal Jordanian are the latest additions to the oneworld family after the most recent absorption move.
But seven other airlines joined at the same time as affiliate members - LAN Argentina and LAN Ecuador and JAL associates JALways, Japan Asia Airways, JAL Express, J-AIR and Japan Transocean Air.
The oneworld web of airports now covers nearly 700 airports in 150 countries, with around 100 new additions in the latest expansion wave.
'Our recruits have enabled oneworld to broaden its coverage in three of the world's fastest growing regions for air travel,' commented oneworld managing partner John McCulloch.
The airline alliance aims to give customers access to the best service wherever they are in the world by pooling services.
For example, high-level passengers with JMB Diamond and Sapphire, Malev Duna Platinum and Gold or Royal Jordanian Platinum and Gold Plus will have access to the 400 airport lounges for top-end customers operated by all the airlines under oneworld's umbrella.
