Travolta touches down after technical hitch
05 April 2007

Wild Hogs star John Travolta was forced to make an emergency landing in the private jet he was piloting for himself on Monday night.

Shortly after appearing on the Jonathan Ross show and visibly bristling at Ross' constant jealous proddings about his five private jets, Travolta was compelled to make an emergency landing at Ireland's Shannon Airport.

His Quantas Boeing 707 experienced technical difficulties in the air en route from New York to Germany, but after a couple of hours on the tarmac, Travolta jetted off again on a separate private jet.

The airliner is just one of five planes the Grease star owns and keeps parked on the 1.4 mile runway at his Florida home.

Travolta trained as an airline pilot in 1976 and has even named his son Jett.

The Pulp Fiction actor's latest movie role sees Travolta tackle a less luxurious form of transport as he and middle-aged cronies including William H Macy tour the US aboard their motorbikes in search of their lost youth.
