Business travellers feel safe as houses
12 April 2007

As many as 96 per cent of business passengers feel 'safe' or 'mostly safe' when travelling outward from the UK, a recent travel survey from Barclaycard reveals.

Although the incidence of terror threats has increased in the past decade, comparison of contemporary responses with those returned in 1996 showed that just over two-thirds of passengers said they felt as safe or safer than they did ten years ago.

The security measures for all outgoing and incoming flights at Britain's airports are seemingly successfully reassuring business customers only three per cent of those passengers who felt unsafe attributed this sense to Britain's terror threat.

By contrast, just over a third of passengers who felt unsafe attributed their anxieties to the risks posed by other passengers.

"Increased security checks at airports, higher safety standards on trains and a shift in attitudes towards safer driving, have all helped make the business traveller feel more secure," commented Denise Leleux, director of commercial cards at Barclaycard Business.
