Paul McCartney takes top tourism honour

A number of top tourist attractions have been recognised at an awards ceremony held by tourism authority Enjoy England.
The Enjoy England Awards for Excellence 2007 were held at the Banqueting Hall in London on 18 April.
The biggest prize of the night, the national award for Outstanding Contribution to Tourism, was claimed by former Beatle Sir Paul McCartney and the City of Liverpool.
Officials handed the award over after seeing Liverpool more than double its visitor numbers in the last five years after a concentrated effort to regenerate the region.
Sir Paul was recognised due to the part the Beatles continue to play in attracting tourists from around the world.
'I'm honoured to receive this award, particularly because of the Liverpool connection,' said the musical legend.
'It's great to think that in some small way I've done something to help tourism for the place of my birth, which I'm so proud of.'
Other winners include Number One in Blackpool, which took home the Bed and Breakfast of the Year award, while Stanley House in Lancashire was named Small Hotel of the Year.
The Chester Grosvenor and Spa was won the Large Hotel of the Year category and Alnwick Castle in Northumberland took home the award for Large Visitor Attraction of the Year.
In total, there were 37 winners across 12 different categories, with 15 gold medals and 22 silver medals being handed out.
