US Airways announces improvements
27 April 2007
US Airways is setting out on a mission to improve its customer service.
The American airliner is launching a number of initiatives which it says will make it more reliable and will allow it meet customer needs.
Among the changes are plans to increase staff numbers at major airports, update its re-accommodation capabilities and introduce new hi-tech kiosk technology.
In total, around 1,000 new members of staff will be brought onboard, while a number of passenger operations control roles will be created.
These positions will deal with monitoring flights and seeing who will need re-accommodating, meaning problems can be dealt with quickly and effectively.
'The people of US Airways are dedicated to meeting our customers' needs,' said Doug Parker, chairman and chief executive officer at US Airways.
'We did not do that in the first quarter of 2007 and are taking the necessary steps to improve our performance.
'Most of our reliability issues were related to a difficult reservations system migration and that project is now back on track,' he added.
The airline also plans to introduce some in-flight improvements, with meal options improved and entertainment enhancements.
