Austrian Airlines most punctual
04 May 2007
Leading carrier Austrian Airlines has been named as the most punctual European airline when it comes to long-haul flights.
The Association of European Airlines (AEA) bestowed the honour on the firm, as well as ranking it third in the short and medium-haul sectors.
Its combined successes make Austrian Airlines the most punctual network carrier overall and the company is extremely proud of its achievement.
The airline is particularly pleased with the results as the past year has seen many timetables blighted by adverse factors such as bad weather and strikes at a number of international airports.
'In our position as network carrier, having to take thousands of transfer passengers on hundreds of connecting flights into consideration every day, this is a top result,' said Alfred Otsch, chief executive officer at Austrian Airlines.
The AEA was particularly impressed with the carrier's steady improvement on previous figures, with punctuality increasing across all sectors.
