UK forest announces musical line up
22 May 2007
The National Forest in England is gearing up for a summer of concerts.
Officials at the East Midlands conservation site have lined up a fantastic array of performers from classical to rock.
All of the gigs will take place at the Conkers amphitheatre, which is covered and surrounded by miles of woodland.
Among the top performers are Ian Drury s The Blockheads, The Commitments, Pink Floyd Tribute and UB40 tribute band Rats In The Kitchen.
Despite its peaceful surroundings, the National Forest will be anything but quiet when the Bloodstock festival comes around in August.
Bloodstock is a heavy metal event, with Chris Slade from ACDC describing it as 'a festival no metalhead should miss'.
Things take a slightly quieter, yet no less exciting, turn when Calke's Flying Proms Spectacular rolls in.
Visitors can expect classical performances from the English National Orchestra.
'It is fantastic that there is now such diversity of music in the Forest,' said Penny Wilkinson from the National Forest.
'The new woodland and ancient Forest that frame the National Forest make a fantastic back-drop for music and theatrical events.'
