Shanghai tooters face fines

Drivers in Shanghai, China, have been told that they face fines if they continue to relentlessly beep their horns.
Officials in the city have become frustrated with motorists who needlessly toot their horns while driving and they are now launching a crackdown, reports the Shanghai Daily.
It is all part of cleaning up the city's image ahead of the 2010 World Expo but similar measures in Beijing have had little effect.
Drivers face fines of varying sizes depending on what kind of vehicle they drive, with moped users likely to be hit for five yuan and drivers of four-wheel vehicles being stung for 200 yuan.
This is not the first measure introduced to improve Shanghai's image, with locals told that they could face a fine for swearing in public.
In addition, taxi drivers will be given spit sacks to stop them spitting in the street.
