Lufthansa creates Frankfurt-Bordeaux link
07 September 2007
Lovers of wine and European culture alike have received a boost to their travel prospects with the news that Lufthansa is commencing services between Frankfurt and Bordeaux this year.
The German carrier will introduce a thrice-daily service between the two cities on 28 October this year as part of its winter timetable.
This is the latest addition to Lufthansa's extensive network to France, with Paris, Lyon, Marseille, Mulhouse, Nice and Toulouse already served by the airline.
'With 523 connections a week between Germany and France, Lufthansa offers more flights between these two major European economic nations than any other airline,' said Thierry Antinori, executive vice-president of marketing and sales at Lufthansa.
This year Bordeaux's old town was named a world heritage site by Unesco and the entire city has been enjoying rising tourist visits in recent years.
It is a particularly popular location with wine-lovers, who travel there to see its 57 appellations and 9,000 wineries, among which are the world famous Chateau Lafite-Rothschild and Chateau Latour.
