New Eurostar station gets royal opening

The restored St Pancras International station was given a royal opening on the evening of 6 November, marking just over seven days until Eurostar launches its new high-speed service from the hub.
Her Majesty the Queen and a number of VIPs and dignitaries attended a ceremony to open the upgraded station, which in one week's time will be the starting point for Eurostar's High Speed 1 rail link to the continent.
The unveiling of the redeveloped station marks the culmination of a £5.8bn engineering project.
James Bidwell, chief executive of tourism agency Visit London, commented: 'The restoration and extension of iconic St Pancras station is a tremendous boost for London.
'St Pancras International is not only the new, spectacular home of Eurostar but also a grand retail and hospitality destination which will welcome many millions of visitors to London in great style.'
Eurostar will implement an overnight transition of its services from Waterloo International to St Pancras, with the final service from Waterloo departing just before 20:00 GMT on 13 November and the first St Pancras train leaving just after 11:00 the next day.
The rail operator has already booked more than 1m passengers on the new link, which will reach a top speed of 186mph and cut at least 20 minutes from the journey time between London and the continent.
