Australian airline Qantas has announced that its new premium economy class option is now on sale.
Among the connections that will include premium economy seats is a route from Sydney to London via Singapore, which will launch on 1 April 2008.
Qantas customers will also be able to fly from Sydney to Hong Kong, from Melbourne to London via Singapore and from Sydney to Johannesburg in premium economy class next year.
Premium economy spaces will boast a new 19.5-inch wide seat, more leg room, a seat recline with up to 40-inch pitch and ergonomic cushioning with an adjustable headrest.
'Our service will also include priority check-in, dedicated cabin crew, an additional hand baggage allowance and priority boarding and disembarkation,' said John Borghetti, executive general manager of the airline.
'Qantas will offer 32 premium economy seats on its B747-400 aircraft in a two-four-two configuration and the product will also be available on select B747-400 services to the US from late 2008.'
The Australian carrier will take delivery of the Airbus A380 in August 2008 and these aircraft will include 32 premium economy seats.
