More Helsinki-Moscow flights next year
23 November 2007
Travellers will have access to a more extensive network of flights between Helsinki and Moscow next year owing to a codesharing agreement reached by Finnair and Aeroflot.
As of April 2008, the national airlines of Finland and Russia will cooperate on four flights a day between their capital cities, offering a total of 28 services a week.
Currently, the carriers each offer seven flights a week between Helsinki and Moscow, with Finnair using the Airbus A320 and Aeroflot operating the route with an A319.
Both airlines fly through Vantaa airport in Finland and Moscow's Sheremetyevo hub.
Their codeshare operation will see business and leisure passengers offered access to morning and evening connections between the two capital cities, while Moscow flights will offer connections to Finnair's services to New York.
In a statement, the Scandinavian airline said that the agreement is the result of long negotiations to increase capacity between Helsinki and Moscow.
Finnair also flies to London, Delhi, Bangkok and Tokyo from its Vantaa hub, while Aeroflot serves 93 destinations around the world, including Barcelona, Cairo and Toronto.
