Sample the food and wine of Miami
13 December 2007

Visitors to the Florida city of Miami in February 2008 will be able to experience the finest fare that the region has to offer during the annual Wine & Food Festival.

Between 21 and 24 February, Miami's South Beach will be the place to find a range of fairs, debates, parties and exhibitions dedicated to food and wine.

A tradition in Miami since 2002, this festival is one of the largest and best-known events of its kind in the United States owing to the popularity and appeal of Latin and Caribbean-inspired cuisine.

Tens of thousands of people flock to South Beach every year and the 2008 festival will be given an extra note of interest for Brits owing to the inclusion of Jamie Oliver on the programme of events.

The celebrity chef will be joining other cooks, as well as university lecturers and government ministers, at the Ritz-Carlton hotel on 22 February for an informative session on children's diets and family health issues.

Visitors with a soft spot for a dram of Scotland's national beverage may have an interest in a light-hearted discussion taking place at the Miami Beach Convention Centre on 23 February, titled the Great Whisky Debate: Scotch or Bourbon?
