Blow-up sheep, Jonathan Ross posters among left hotel items
20 December 2007

A blow-up sheep, posters of Jonathan Ross, a prosthetic leg, false teeth and a glass eye are all among the items that people have left in hotels in the past year, it has been revealed.

Hospitality company Holiday Inn said that some £750,000 worth of property was left in its establishments throughout 2007.

While some of the discarded objects were bizarre, others were highly valuable, including a £2,000 Rolex watch, a £3,000 engagement ring, a £1,000 Mont Blanc pen and £2,000 in cash.

A gas stove, a bike, a monk's habit and a selection of whips were also discovered in hotel rooms this year.

Alexi Hakim, UK and Ireland chief operating officer for the InterContinental Hotels group, said: 'It never fails to amaze us the things people seem to forget to take with them - you'd imagine it would be difficult to forget a glass eye or your dentures.

'And you would certainly think a person would notice he didn't have his prosthetic leg when he walked out the door, but apparently not.'
