Snowdrop Festival 'back by popular demand'
02 January 2008

The Scottish tourism agency has confirmed that the Snowdrop Festival will be 'back by popular demand' this year.

This event will take place all across the country and see a number of 'snowdrop gardens' created for the entertainment of visitors both young and old.

Between 1 February and 16 March a number of locations across Scotland will be transformed into wintry wonderlands, including the Royal Botanic Garden in Edinburgh and the Falls of Clyde Wildlife Reserve.

Visitors will be able to take a walk through bracing Scottish winter countryside and spot white-crested tits and white stone statues.

Some of Scotland's oldest country houses, stately homes and estates will also serve tea and snacks. Some of the establishments will be open exclusively for the Snowdrop Festival.

A new addition to the 2008 event will be the Dark Sky stargazing evening, which will include planetarium shows as well as comet making and rocket launching sessions for children.

These nights will take place on 2 Feb at Cambo House, St Andrews; 16 Feb at Castle Kennedy and Gardens; and 15 March at the Royal Botanic Garden.
