BA confirms new flights to Hyderabad
09 January 2008
British Airways has revealed that it will begin new flights to Hyderabad this year.
The carrier confirmed that the new service between its UK base at Heathrow airport and the Indian city will get underway on 27 October.
Five flights a week will be available on the route, using a Boeing 777 aircraft.
Hyderabad will be the sixth Indian destination served by BA, joining Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, Kolkata and Mumbai in the carrier's route network.
Robert Boyle, the airline's commercial director, said: 'India is our largest market outside North America and, with the Hyderabad route, we will fly there 48 times each week.
"This is up from 19 flights per week when the UK/India aviation market was liberalised in October 2005."
Mr Boyle said that the service is expected to be popular with business travellers, owing to the growth currently being experienced in Hyderabad's economy.
