Belgrade 'new city break hotspot'
10 January 2008

Belgrade is one of the up-and-coming destinations in the city break market, according to the organisers of a travel exhibition.

In 2007, there was an increase of over 50% in foreign visitor numbers, to 414,684.

The Serbian capital has now set a target of 1m visitors by 2010, which will be supported by its hosting of the Reed Travel Exhibitions City Break show between 9 and 11 June this year.

This event will boost the local travel industry by allowing city and regional tourist boards and suppliers to meet specialist operators.

Olivera Lazovic, director of Belgrade City Tourism, said: 'We are delighted to host City Break 2008.

'Belgrade's city break market is starting to flourish, thanks to the commitment of the government, private sector and our national airline.'

The city is popular among young travellers owing to its bohemian districts, bars, cafes and nightlife.
