Swiss installs 'soccer trams' in major cities
15 January 2008
Swiss has installed 'soccer trams' in the cities of Zurich, Basel and Geneva for the use of all people who will be travelling to Switzerland for the Euro 2008 tournament.
The trams will operate on the streetcar networks of the cities in the run up to the competition and feature a unique design.
According to the national airline, the images of celebrating fans on the trams will help get people in the mood for the football tournament, even if their particular country may not be involved.
Harry Hohmeister, chief network and distribution officer at Swiss, said: 'We're convinced that our trams will help the people of these three key Swiss cities get into the mood for this exciting event.'
Swiss, which has already decorated an Airbus A320 with a design bearing the words 'come on Switzerland', claims to be the 'airline for all fans'.
Euro 2008 will take place at cities throughout Switzerland and Austria, including Bern, Basel, Innsbruck and Vienna, from 7 to 29 June.
