Bob Geldof enjoys a Viennese waltz
28 January 2008

Bob Geldof showed that he can scrub up with the best of them on a recent trip to Vienna, the capital of Austria.

The former Boomtown Rats singer visited the city's historic Musikverein concert hall with his partner Jeanne Marine to attend the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra's Ball.

Geldof looked particularly dapper in a white tie and tails, upon which hung an impressive collection of medals, including the medallion he received from the Queen when he was given an honorary knighthood in 1986.

It wasn't only his attire that was making a good impression, however, as the activist showed that he can hold his own on the dancefloor by enjoying a graceful waltz with his partner.

Vienna's Musikverein concert hall is one of the Austrian capital's most popular tourist attractions, particularly with music enthusiasts owing to its reputation for quality acoustics.

The Austrian capital is a Mecca of sorts for lovers of classical music, largely owing to its associations with the likes of Johann Strauss, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Ludwig van Beethoven.
