DreamWorks to open Dubai theme park
29 January 2008

Film and animation studio DreamWorks is to build a theme park in the United Arab Emirates city of Dubai.

The project, which will be part of the Dubailand complex, will include themed restaurants, hotels, shops and rides.

Jeffrey Katzenberg, chief executive of DreamWorks, said: 'We are thrilled to bring the first DreamWorks Animation-dedicated theme park to Dubai.'

Mr Katzenberg claimed that the park will offer tourists and families the chance to interact with the brands and characters created by the Hollywood studio.

Animated character Shrek, one of DreamWorks' most successful creations to date, is likely to be one of the most prevalent features of the park, while Kung Fu Panda, from a forthcoming film, may also be incorporated.

Dubailand is currently being developed by state-owned property firm Tatweer and, when complete, will reportedly be the biggest tourism, leisure and entertainment complex in the world.
