Continental to offer TV, email on flights

Continental Airlines has revealed that it will soon offer live television and email on its domestic flights.
The service will include 36 channels of programmes and Wi-Fi services including inflight wireless connectivity for mail and messaging.
Customers on flights operated within the continental United States will be able to make use of the services from January 2009.
Larry Kellner, chairman and chief executive of Continental, said that the initiative was a response to the needs of modern air travellers.
'Our customers want more inflight entertainment and communication options,' he said.
'We have been closely watching technology developments and are delighted to have teamed up with LiveTV to offer live television programming and communication to our customers.'
The initiative is set to include popular American channels such as MTV, Fox News, Animal Planet, Nickelodeon and Food Network.
