'All kinds of tourism' on offer in Brazil
30 January 2008
Brazil offers a wide variety of opportunities for tourists, according to a spokesman for the country's embassy in London.
Tom Falcao, general manager of the tourist office of the Brazilian Embassy, said that the sorts of pastime that visitors can enjoy in the South American nation range from sport to luxury excursions.
'It's famous in Brazil that we use the beach as a place for sport where young people can play basketball and football, all sorts of sports on all sorts of famous beaches,' he said.
'There are lots of spas in several states in Brazil. There are places with thermal waters, hot waters and cold waters, and the southern part of Minas Gerais, north of Sao Paolo, is very famous for its mud baths.'
Arguably the most famous tourist location of all in Brazil is Rio de Janeiro, a city that Mr Falcao described as the country's 'postcard' destination.
Flights from London to Brazil are currently provided by three airlines TAM Brazilian Airways, Varig Airlines and British Airways.
