Travellers invited on 'cultural safari' in Glasgow
13 February 2008

People considering taking a trip in April have been invited to enjoy a 'cultural safari' in Glasgow.

The city's marketing bureau revealed that there will be a range of events held between 11 and 13 April to get the Gi Festival underway.

This celebration of contemporary visual arts will run from 11 to 27 April and feature highlights including a major new show by the Turner Prize-nominated Jim Lambie in the Gallery of Modern Art.

Catherine Yass will also present High Wire, which features a tightrope walker crossing the gaps between Glasgow's Red Road flats.

Exhibitions will take place all over Glasgow, from established spaces such as the Tramway and the Modern Institute to found spaces, public sites and even an artist's living room.

People who visit the Gi Festival will also be able to attend a performance of Black Watch, the National Theatre of Scotland's award-winning production.

This show, which will be staged at the SECC, combines movement, music and song to striking and memorable effect.
