Orlando 'top destination for American travellers'

Americans booking their summer holidays are likely to head for Orlando for the sixth year running, according to an annual survey by the American Society of Travel Agents (ASTA).
The survey revealed that 17.5% of holidaymakers take their vacations in Orlando, muscling out Las Vegas in second place at 15.4%.
Other summer hotspots on the list included New York City, Los Angeles and Seattle.
ASTA president, Cheryl Hudak, says the fact that the same destinations keep on appearing on the list is a testament to their enduring popularity among American travellers.
'As travel agents, we know the ins and outs of both emerging destinations as well as those that are tried and true and can help our clients discover something new and exciting no matter where they choose to travel,' she added.
Among overseas destinations, Italy was the preferred holiday spot for American travellers, not surprising for a country that boasts nearly five million Italian-Americans in New York and New Jersey alone.
