Father Ted lovers head to 'Craggy Island'
19 February 2008
Lovers of TV sitcom Father Ted will be heading to the destination known as 'Craggy Island' over the coming days to enjoy the Ted Fest.
This festival dedicated to the show will kick off on 25 February in the town of Kilfenora in Ireland.
Festivities will really get underway on 29 February on Inis Mor, where revellers will celebrate the island's better known alias of Craggy Island.
There will be a number of 'sporting' and 'spiritual' events during the festival, including a nuns five-a-side football match, a 'lovely girls' competition and a challenge to 'dunk the monk in the world's biggest cup of tea'.
Regional airline Aer Arann announced that it will act as the official Ted Fest travel partner, offering services from Luton, Manchester, Leeds, Newcastle and Edinburgh.
Colin Lewis, the carrier's head of sales and marketing, said: 'The bishop doesn't know yet, but we will be transporting priests, nuns and lovely girls to the Aran Islands.'
He added: 'It has been ten years since Father Ted had its last hurrah with the filming of the final episode, we are glad to be blessed with the prestige of being an official carrier a decade later.'
