Universal Orlando 'had best ever year' in 2007
25 February 2008

The Universal Orlando theme park experienced its best ever year in 2007 in terms of profit and visitor numbers, reports suggest.

It is estimated that the park earned a record $92m (£46.8m) in profit last year, more than twice that recorded in 2006, the Orlando Sentinel reports.

The group that owns Universal Orlando also revealed that combined total attendance for Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure, which comprise the park, increased by 3% last year.

Bill Davis, president and chief operating officer of Universal Orlando, said that improvements in visitor experience were a major factor in the success.

He added: 'We picked up tremendous momentum in the third quarter of 2007 and continued that performance into the fourth quarter behind Halloween Horror Nights and an excellent holiday tourism season thanks to Grinchmas and the Macy's Holiday Parade.'

Universal Orlando is the second biggest theme park in Orlando, behind the Walt Disney World Resort.
