Formula 1 roars into Barcelona
26 February 2008

Motorsport fans will be given a perfect excuse for a trip to Barcelona in two months' time as the Formula One World Championship comes to Spain.

The fourth race of the season will be held at the Circuit de Catalunya on 27 April.

Situated in Montmelo to the north of Barcelona, the race provides an opportunity for visitors to the Catalan capital to take a daytrip out of the city.

Last year's race was won by Brazilian Felipe Massa but most of the eyes in the crowd this year will be on Fernando Alonso, the Spanish driver who came third last year but took first place in 2006.

Massa's victory in 2007 included the fastest ever lap of the Circuit de Catalunya, throwing down the gauntlet to this year's competitors to attempt to set a new record.

Formula One fans who follow their sport around the globe will be taken to some of the world's most glamorous and exciting destinations this year, including Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia, Monte Carlo, Singapore and Sao Paulo in Brazil.
