Lufthansa introduces assistant service at Heathrow
06 March 2008
Lufthansa, the national carrier of Germany, has announced a new personal assistant service for its first-class passengers at London Heathrow.
Customers departing from Heathrow are met at check in by their assistant, escorted past check-in queues, through security control and into the airline's lounge.
People flying into Heathrow can also use the service, being met at the aircraft door by their assistant and taken through passport and customs controls.
The London airport is the first Lufthansa base in Europe to benefit from the new offering, which will soon be introduced at London City airport.
Response to the initiative has been 'overwhelmingly positive', the airline claimed, with an average of 50 passengers a day making use of the service.
Marianne Sammann, the carrier's general manager for the UK and Ireland, said: 'Lufthansa's new personal assistant service offers a new and exclusive benefit for our best and most loyal customers flying out of London, further strengthening our leading position in the premium segment.
'As one of Lufthansa's most important markets, London boasts the highest share of Lufthansa's UK-based top frequent fliers and London-Heathrow alone ranks number six in Lufthansa's worldwide rankings for [frequent flier scheme] HON Circle membership.'
