Goa 'a top holiday destination'

A survey has named Goa as one of the most popular holiday destinations in Asia, it has been reported.
The sun soaked paradise which boasts miles of perfect beaches and crystal clear ocean remains one of the top places to visit for travellers in India.
Travel search firm Holiday IQ said that their Holiday Intelligence Forecast revealed that this summer looks set to see many tourists visit the region, the Economic Times states.
Other popular areas to visits in India this year include Ooty, Mahabaleshwar, Shimla and Manali, according to the data.
This weekend, Goa got into the party spirit with the famous Shigmo festival – a celebration of the area's unique culture.
'This festival takes us back to our culture,' deputy mayor of Panjim, Yatin Parekg told IBNLive.
'Many tourists come to see this festival. It's because we don't get to see this in cities and this culture originates from the villages.'
