Emirates unveils 'futuristic' lounge in Australia
08 April 2008

Dubai-based airline Emirates has opened its newest lounge in Australia.

The carrier's new facility at Brisbane airport offers a 360-degree surrounding view and is the first lounge in Australia with the capacity to board passengers directly onto the aircraft, including the upper deck of the Airbus A380.

Emirates' new lounge can accommodate a total of 172 guests and boasts amenities including massage seats and leather armchairs, flat-screen televisions, designer bathrooms with showers and a business centre.

Dale Griffith, the airline's senior vice-president of airport services, said that a £13m (£6.57m) project was launched in 2003 to develop a range of top-quality lounges around the world.

'Five years on, we now have 18 Emirates lounges across our network and are delighted by the overwhelmingly positive feedback from our customers that make these lounges worth our continuous investments,' he added.

'The new Emirates lounge, the second in Brisbane, continues to embody the airline's dedication to innovation and superior service.'

People travelling with Emirates will find first- and business-class lounges in Melbourne, Bangkok, Dubai, Frankfurt, Heathrow and New York, among others.
