Dubailand completes design for Marvel park
14 May 2008

Plans have been finalised for the new Marvel Superheroes theme park at Dubailand, it has been announced.

The new 3.3bn dirham (£462m) park will be the first attraction of its kind in the world and will serve as one of the anchor projects of Dubailand, which is being billed as the world's largest tourism and entertainment complex.

Visitors will be able to explore three districts at the Marvel park – City Centrum, the Hub and the Marvel Academy.

There will also be a number of rides, including Flying with Spidey, Fantasticar and X-Men: Danger Room, which are already undergoing offsite trial runs, Trade Arabia reports.

Mohammed Alhabbai, chief executive of Dubailand, said the finalisation of the design and master plan for the park was a 'significant milestone'.

He added: 'The theme park will draw over 3.5m visitors annually as a high-voltage entertainment park for the entire family to relive their childhood memories and interact with their much-loved superhero characters.'

Other attractions at Dubailand will include Sports City, the Aqua Dunia water park and the Legends leisure complex.

The first phase of Dubailand is set to open in December 2010.
